It is from the village of Al-Hajjarayn, perched high at the edge of a calcareous cliff, at the entrance of Wadi Daw'an, from where emigrated, in the years 1930, the father of Oussama Ben Laden, Mohammed, in the growing Saudi Eldorado. Digging the immense desert plateau of the Happy Arabia, this green oasis is one of the antiques roads of the incense; and the name Laden would come from laudanum, the resinous oil of a local shrub which, in fumigation, exhales, wrote Herodotus, a divinely sweet odor.
