Founded into 1350, this old capital of Siam was razed by Birmans in 1767. It was the city of 33 kings and gathered up to 10 million inhabitants. It was an astonishing city for its time, by its dimension, its organization and its cosmopolitan character: it sheltered thousands from abroad, Portuguese and French churches, a Japanese colony.
