Gorée


One moment occupied by England then returned to France in 1817, Gorée becomes the obliged stopover of the vessels moving towards America and Asia. During the XIXth century, its inhabitants, too many, essaiment on the continent. They found Dakar in 1857. With the abolition of slavery in 1848, the decline of the island precipitates. In 1929, Gorée is annexed to the capital.
