House of the Slaves


The House of the Slaves was built by the Dutchmen in 1776. At the interior, strength varied between 150 and 200 people. The Blacks had sat back to the wall, yokes blocking their neck and their arms. The conditions of hygiene were deplorable. In the long corridor overlooking the sea, a door opens on a small wood quay which was used as landing stage.
