Cove of Gorée


The cove of Gorée. The Portuguese caravels discover the island into 1444. In 1580, the Netherlands become independent occupy the island changing its name of Palma into Gorée (comes from Dutch goede reede: good harbours). It is at that time, at the end of XVIth century that the trade of the slaves develops.
