It is the Chitwan National park which illustrates best contrasts existing between the various areas of Terai. It is bordered in north by the range of Mahabharata, high 3000 m, and in the south by Siwalik Hills (150 to 500 m). the subtropical jungle makes way here for savanna, and impenetrable marshes.
