Nouakchott - Between the ocean and the desert, Nouakchott has the particularity of having been born from the will to create a capital at equal distance from the nomadic life and sedentary life. The city followed its own evolution under the effect of the desertification, the rural exodus and economic progress. It remains very marked by its Saharan environment, in spite of the proximity of the sea.
