The pyramid of Kukulkán in Chichen Itza. Located at the centre of the great square place, in the north of the site, it is made of two superposed temples-pyramids dating from Ancien Postclassical. The higher pyramid is made up of 9 terraces in talus and 4 staircases of 91 steps each one, bordered of slopes in the shape of snakes. Their 364 steps added with that of the entry of the temple, symbolize the 365 days of the solar year.
