The Treasure


The Treasure or Khazné is the most famous tomb of Petra. Its 40 meters high frontage is lit by the sun of the morning and mark the entry of the town of Petra. The Hellenistic artistic influence is dominant, Nabateans being in contact with the Greek cities of Gerasa, Philadelphia and of Alexandria. Egyptian elements like the statue of Isis in the semicircular temple of the floor and Mesopotamian like the crenelated towers are present. For the Bedouins, it was about the Treasure of the Pharaoh, from where its local name.
