Jerash, it is the site of ancient Gerasa, abandoned since XIIth century of our era, and re-occupied by Circassians at the end of XIXth century. The ruins are well preserved and the considerable restorations, always in progress, make of Jerash the Roman site most spectacular of Jordan. The modern city counts 30 000 inhabitants and occupies all the part is ancient site.
