Gamelan player


The music of Java is based on the use of sets of metallophons called gamelan. One also finds there blades suspended by the ties above tubes of resonance in bamboo called gender; the gender accompanies the voice by the singers. A blade xylophone of wood or bamboo paraphrases the melody. The Javansese musicians sing and play mainly from memory.
