The surface of the island of Java is about 132000 km2, its population is 112 million inhabitants (205 million for Indonesia). With 1000 km length and 180 km width, the island is dissymmetrical: the hydrographic network is directed towards north; the line of volcanos is placed at the south; the Western part makes up of alluvial plains
surrounded by volcanos; the central part is the historical heart of the island. If the majority of the religious edifices are evocation of Buddhism, Hindouisme or some thoughts animists, the mosques, are the testimony of the belief of 100 million Moslems.
