Khajuraho

The site of Khajuraho is located at the place of the old capital of the Chandela dynasty (IXth-XIIth century). Between 950 and 1030, many temples were built there, and about thirty of them were preserved. The temples of Khajuraho form the most beautiful whole of medieval temples of central India. They are remarkable as much from the point of view of architecture that sculpture. A multitude of statues illustrating the Hindu Pantheon, with gracious female figures as of couples in love abound on the frontages.
