Ajmer


A street in Ajmer. The city was founded at the 11th century by the Chauhan dynasty before being taken by Moguls of the sultanate of Delhi into 1193. It remained under their control until 1326 then it was disputed by Moguls, Rathor and Rana of Marwar and the sultans of Gujarat. In 1818 the British took total control of the city. Ajmer is one of the great centres of pilgrimage of the Moslems Soufis.
