Trafalgar Square, built on the site of the old royal stables, commemorates the naval battle of Trafalgar which opposed French and English in 1805. The effigy of its winner, the admiral Lord Nelson, surmounts The Nelson's Column, height a 44 m, surrounded by four big bronze lions. Top of its column, the statue of Nelson dominates Trafalgar Square, so says one, that the admiral can see the sea.
