Strasbourg

Strasbourg is the capital of Alsace and the seat of the European Parliament. Born on the site from a Roman camp, at the crossroads of the roads connecting Italy to the Flanders and France to Eastern Europe, Strasbourg became German into 925. Annexed by Louis XIV into 1681, it remained French until 1871, then became again German until 1918 and from 1940 to 1944. In spite of the devastations caused by the two wars, the old city preserves very beautiful buildings.
