Cuenca

Cuenca (150 000 inhabitants - 2530 m of altitude) is the capital of the province of Azuay. The city was founded in 1557 by the Spanish on the site of the Inca city, Tomebamba, which had must be destroyed during the conflict which opposed towards 1530 Huascar and Atahualpa, and it preserves its colonial style still today.
