Near Luxor, on left bank of the Nile, the steep valleys of the libyque mountain shelter the burials where the mummies of the Pharaohs rested. All made represent in their last residence the scenes of a happy life which they hoped to continue in beyond. Of the 62 hypogean ones that they could recognize in the valley of the Kings, some are not any more that simple excavations, others are in ruin, ten only can be visited. the valley of the Queens is the necropolis of the royal wives and their daughters. We know today nearly 80 tombs of which that of the Nefertari Queen, but only two or three are opened to the public.
