Cubans in a street of Bayamo. On the occasion of the Ten year war, in October 1868, Pedro Figueredo composed the "Bayamo Song", which became the national anthem thereafter. One year later, whereas the city fell into the hands of the Spanish forces, the patriots decided to set fire to it.
