Iguaçu
Originating from the coastal mountains of Paraná and Santa Catarina (Serra do Mar) at the modest altitude of 1300 m, Rio Iguaçu curves towards the west on 600 km, making halt behind the Foz do Areia Cruz Machado and Salto Santiago dams, and receiving on their way a few tens of affluents. It widens majestically and skirts a splendid forest before plunging and smashing in staged falls.
