The Vlamingstraat street. Like the majority of the cities of the Northern Flanders, its origin is late (the town of Brugge is quoted only in 892) and badly known. At the end of IXth century, the Count Baudouin Arm-of-Iron raises a castle there intended to protect a coast constantly attacked by the Norman.
