Hohenschwangau


The castle of Hohenschwangau was built in five years between 1832 and 1836 for the king Maximilian II of Bavaria on the site of a ruin of fortified castle dating from the Middle Ages. Ludwig II will make later his seat of it. Built in the neo-Gothic style, it shows English influences while showing typical elements of German romanticism.
